Disabling or enabling snapshots for a Space

By default, Jira Snapshots is available for all spaces on the site. There may be scenarios where you want to not expose Jira Snapshots on specific spaces. For example, when a space is shared with external users that should not see. In these scenarios, you can disable the snapshot functionality for all pages on the space.

When Jira Snashots is disabled on the space:

  1. Jira Snapshots macro cannot be configured (in EDIT mode) or added to pages

  2. Snapshot data is not seen on the page (instead, a notification appears), even if the page has Snapshots data.

  3. Snapshot data is not included in exports, even if the page has Snapshots data. Instead, an error message appears where Snapshot data exists on the page.

Jira Snapshots security considerations

  1. If external users have access to Confluence and you do not want them to have acess to Jira Snapshots, you’ll need also to block their permission to have a personal space. Because once an external user has their own space, they will have Snapshots functionality on that space.

  2. When moving a page into a space where snapshots is disabled: If this page has snapshots data (from before the move). This data will not be seen on the page, and new snapshots cannot be taken, but the data still exists and is attached to the page.

Steps to Follow

  1. These steps are available for user with Space Admin permissions.

  2. Navigate to the Space Settings area.
